Every few weeks I send a newsletter called The Vital Neighborhood.

This newsletter started as a way for me to explore Neighborhood Vitals, my term for how we measure and improve the health of places. But I also love to explore online communities, writing and my journey from entrepreneur to investor.

I write about things like how the beauty of our surroundings impacts our mental and physical health, the use of innovative inhalers that help local politicians plan traffic, and how I learned to make friends online.

Writing lets me build my ideas in public.

Join me and please leave comments along the way.

A few of my recent digital postcards:

  • Motorcyle taxis in Kenya

    A City's Hidden Assets

Could 50,000 motorcycle taxis in Nairobi be the key key to improving the health of the city?

  • Building a Distributed Health Network

My manifesto on the future of health, and how my Kenyan social enterprise is leading the way.

  • The Science of City Beauty

I believe that how neighborhoods look, and how they make us feel— is not the top of the pyramid of city needs but rather forms an important part of the foundation.
